All parts of this circular route are inside the province of Pisa. The route starts along the road running along the base of the hill and briefly passes the marshland of Bientina.
An accessible ascent of 4km follows, leading us to Santa Maria a Monte and a brief flat section which crosses the Arno river.
From this point a 10km ascent begins, including a seemingly flat section at the beginning, leading to the medieval village of Palaia.
The next section undulates through small villages dotted through the Pisan hills and is then turns north through the plains south of the city before returning to Pisa itself.
