This route is almost circular and crosses the countryside north-east of Pisa, follows the reclaimed land near Lake Massaciuccoli, passes the Lake itself and then heads uphill on the ‘Pitoro’ and ‘Magno’ ascents, before reaching the town Camaoire, situated on the southern slopes of the Apuan Alps.
Facing the coast, the itinerary then goes uphill on the ‘Pedona’ ascent, around a 5km climb with a gradient in double figures, but with some gentler sections to catch your breath. The descent is around 6km and the return to Pisa follows the Medici aqueduct.
